Managing access to the Client Uploads folder is how you control secure file sharing with each client. Below are the ways to make sure clients can reach their upload folder, and how to adjust the folder-sharing automation to fit your firm's workflow.
How folder sharing works by default
By default, Financial Cents creates and shares a "Client Uploads" folder automatically whenever a new client is created. Your clients get instant access to their upload folder through the client portal, with no setup on your side. If your firm prefers to manage sharing manually, you can turn this automation off (see below).
Make sure a client can access their upload folder
Either of these 2 methods gives a client access to their folders and files in the portal:
Send a Client Task Request. Requesting documents through a client task lets the client log into the portal, where they can reach their folders and files. See Client Tasks & Requests.
Share a specific folder or document. Share a folder directly with the client to give immediate access. See Secure folder sharing & client portal.

Turn off automatic folder sharing
If you prefer to manage folder sharing manually:
Navigate to Settings > Company and scroll to the Automations & Settings section.
Turn off Create "Client Uploads" folder when a client is created.
From then on, share folders manually. When you save sharing settings on a folder, the Share & Notify prompt lets you notify the client.
ā ļøPlease note. If you turn off the automation, make sure your team communicates file-sharing steps clearly to clients, since new clients will no longer get an upload folder automatically.
Find the files clients upload
Once clients have access and start uploading, the Client Uploads Report shows every uploaded file across all clients in one chronological view, with document tag filters to triage what needs action.
