Review Files in the Client Uploads Report

Find every file your clients have uploaded in one place, filter by document tag, and jump straight to the folder or project it belongs to.

When clients send you files, you should not have to hunt for them folder by folder. The Client Uploads report brings client-uploaded files into 1 place so you can search, preview, tag, and download them.

Open the Client Uploads report

  1. Navigate to Clients > Client Uploads.

  2. Use the Client Uploads tab for files clients uploaded to Client Files.

  3. Switch to Client Task Uploads for files submitted through client tasks on projects.

Both tabs show the newest uploads first. The table header stays visible as you scroll, with search, filters, and pagination outside the scrolling file list.

Preview or download a file

Click the document name to open its preview. Use the preview's navigation controls to move through files on the current page.

Each standard file row also provides these shortcuts:

  • Click the download icon to download that file.

  • Click the client name to open the client's profile.

  • On Client Uploads, click Open folder to open the file's location. The Folder column shows its folder path.

  • On Client Task Uploads, click Open project to open the project containing the task. The Project column includes the accounting period or, when no accounting period is set, the due date.

A pending AI suggestion can replace the normal row actions with suggestion controls. Click its file name to preview the document.

Filter and search the report

Use the search box to find files by file name or client name. You can also search by folder name on Client Uploads, or by project name on Client Task Uploads.

  • Date: select an upload-date preset or a custom range.

  • Tags: select the document tags you want to find.

  • Clients: narrow the list to a client.

Click Export to download an Excel spreadsheet of the filtered report. To download an individual file, use its row's download icon.

Filter uploads by document tag

Financial Cents starts with 7 default document tags: Missing Info, Needs Review, Duplicate, Unreadable, Downloaded, Processed, and New. Your firm can also create custom tags. The New tag is applied to client uploads unless your firm has disabled that automation.

  1. Open the Tags filter.

  2. Select 1 or more tags, such as New. By default, the report shows files with any selected tag.

  3. Select Require all to show only files with every selected tag, or Exclude selected tags to hide matching files. With both options selected, files carrying all selected tags are excluded.

Choose Untagged to find files without document tags. Use Clear Tags to remove the tag filter.

💡 Pro Tip! Filter by New as part of your daily document review, then download, retag, or flag the files your team needs to act on.

Tag files individually or in bulk

  1. Open a file's tag picker to select or clear its tags.

  2. To update several files, select their checkboxes.

  3. Click Tag As to add tags, or Remove Tags to remove tags from the selected files.

Selections are retained when you move between pages. Check your full selection before applying a bulk change.

Applying or removing tags requires permission to Manage Document Tags. You can view tags and filter the files you can access without that permission.

Review AI file suggestions

If your firm uses AI File Renaming, suggestions and status indicators can appear directly in the report.

For a pending rename suggestion, click Approve to accept it, Edit to adjust the suggested name, or Reject to keep the existing name. Renaming suggestions are handled individually on this report.

A spinner indicates processing. A sparkle indicates an AI rename; hover over it to see the original name. A warning can indicate a failed rename or a suggestion that did not meet your firm's confidence threshold. Open the warning to read its explanation. Dismiss hides the notice without approving a rename.

On Client Task Uploads, AI File Routing can also suggest copying a task file into a client folder. When a routing suggestion appears, select Copy to Folder, Edit, or Reject. Routing suggestions appear after any pending rename is resolved. Accepting a routing suggestion creates a copy in the selected folder and leaves the task attachment in place. This routing suggestion does not appear on the Client Uploads tab.

Check access to uploads

The report follows your access to clients and projects. If a file is missing, check the applicable client or project access. Opening or downloading a file can also depend on its file permissions. See Manage access to the Client Uploads folder.
