Time tracking reports show you where your firm's hours actually go. Run them for any date range to see actual vs budgeted hours, how much of your tracked time is billable, and how much money you are billing your clients from that time.
Open the Time Tracking reports
Navigate to Reports > Time Tracking.
The Time Tracking Reports page opens with summary rows for your selected date range.
Pick your report level
The report has 3 tabs, and each level answers a different question:
Clients: how much time your firm spends on each client
Projects: what type of work takes most of your firm's time
Team: how your team members spend their time, useful for payroll
ℹ️Heads up! Budgeted hours displayed for clients come from projects whose due date falls inside the date range you selected.
Set your date range
Click the date selector at the top of the report to scope the data. Pick a quick option (Today, This Week, Last Week, This Month, Last Month, This Quarter, Last Quarter, This Year, Last Year) or choose a custom range on the calendar, then click Apply.
Filter your report
Use the filters across the top of the report to narrow the data:
Billing Type: separate Billable from Non Billable hours. This is the fastest way to check how much of your firm's tracked time is generating revenue, and to spot clients or projects where non-billable time is piling up.
Billing Status: separate time that has been Invoiced from time that is Not Invoiced.
Team Member, Client Groups, and Service Items: scope the report to specific people, client segments, or services.
💡Pro Tip! Billing Type plus Billing Status together show your unrealized revenue: billable time that has not been invoiced yet. To turn that time into invoices, see Unbilled Time, WIP (Work in Progress).
Drill down into individual time entries
Click into any client, project, or team member row to see the individual time entries behind the totals. This helps you answer why something ran over budget without leaving the report. You can also edit individual time entries directly from this view.
ℹ️Heads up! Time entries that have been billed on a sent invoice are locked and cannot be edited. See Locking Time Entries for how that works.
Export your time data
Click Export to download your time tracking data as an Excel (XLSX) or CSV file. Use it for payroll, deeper analysis, or importing into other systems.
