The Components of a Proposal

Introduction

This is where you can create a personalized introduction for your client. In this section, you can:

  • Select the signatory

  • Choose a proposal start date

  • Add an intro video for your client

  • Add an intro message for your client

Services

This is where you can add and scope services you will be billing your clients for. You can add:

  • One-time and/or recurring services

  • Define the scope of work

  • Add the pricing, discounts, or tax associated with the service items

  • Add add-on services to upsell prospects and increase revenue

Payments

This is where you can choose how your client can pay for the services. You have:

  • Credit/debit card

    • Typically pays out in 1 business day

  • ACH wire transfer

    • Typically pays out in 4 business days

More importantly, you can require the client to upload their payment information before they can sign the proposal to automate future payments.

Terms

In this section, you can include your engagement letter to keep your firm safe from a legal standpoint.

Preview Proposal

Once you finish creating the proposal, you can preview it and see what it will look like before sending it to the client.

Set a default price display

If your firm quotes work on a pre-tax basis, you can choose to show pre-tax prices on all proposals by default. Navigate to Settings > Billing and select the Payments tab. Under the Proposal Preferences section, check Show pre-tax prices to clients, then click Update Preferences.

ℹ️Heads up! This sets the default for all new proposals. You can always override the setting on a per-proposal basis inside the proposal editor. When pre-tax mode is on, clients see a note that tax is not included. Tax is still calculated and shown on the generated invoice as usual.
